How to Create a Manual Recording in Windows Media Center for Windows 7
Recording a TV show in Windows Media Center is pretty simple. Just select the show in the program guide and click record. But what if you want to record a custom length program such as a live sporting event, news conference, or an awards show? Here’s how to go about creating a custom length or manual recording in Windows Media Center for Windows 7.
Open Windows Media Center and under theTV section, click or select “recorded tv.”
On the next screen, click “add recording” at the top of the window.
On the add recording screen, scroll down and select the option “Channel and Time” under “Create a custom recording with:”
On the manual record screen select the channel, recording frequency, date, quality, and start and ending time.
To manually name the recording, click on “Change Title on the left. On the Manual Recording screen enter a name and click save. This step is optional and if you don’t give it a custom name of your choosing, it will simply show up as “Manual Recording.”
To save your recording click on record. You’ve now created a manual recording in Windows Media Center.
Tips: Always be sure to give yourself plenty of extra time when recording a live event. You don’t want to miss a great ending to a overtime football game by underestimating the time of the game. At the same time, when programming for a very long manual recording, just be sure you have enough allotted hard drive space for the entire recording.
