To manually name the recording, click on “Change Title on the left. On the Manual Recording screen enter a name and click save. This step is optional and if you don’t give it a custom name of your choosing, it will simply show up as “Manual Recording.”

To save your recording click on record. You’ve now created a manual recording in Windows Media Center.

Tips: Always be sure to  give yourself plenty of extra time when recording a live event. You don’t want to miss a great ending to a overtime football game by underestimating the time of the game. At the same time, when programming for a very long manual recording, just be sure you have enough allotted hard drive space for the entire recording.
