How to Create a Desktop Folder in Android

Creating some folders on your Android phone is nice way to suppress screen clutter and better organize your apps. I’ve decided to do this for my Navigation shortcuts. This way I can simply tap on a shortcut while using my Droid for navigation. Anyway, here’s how to create a folder.

Press and hold the Home screen until the Add to Home screen menu pops up. Then, tap on Folders.

Then select New Folder.

Now you’ll have a folder with the decidedly non-unique name of “Folder.”

Since I am creating a folder to hold my Navigations favorites, I’m going to just drag and drop my shortcut right onto my new folder.

Really a nice, simple way to organize phone apps. However,  “Folder” isn’t going to work (probably) as a folder name. Here’s how you change the folder name on your Android phone.
