It’s easy enough to create a folder in for your Droid or other Android phone, but the default name of “Folder” isn’t ideal. And, there isn’t a way to change the name as you create a folder. (At least as of Android 2.1) What’s worse is that changing the name on your Android isn’t very intuitive. Let’s take a look at how to rename a folder in Android.

Tap to open the folder you wish to rename.

Press and hold the title bar at the top.

As you press and hold, the title bar will turn yellow….

and the Rename menu will appear.

Type in a new name and click OK. Since I am making Navigation shortcuts, I’m naming my folder “Navigation.” (“Oh, how original dude… “) Then click OK.

And, viola, you’ve got your renamed folder on your Home screen.

Easy enough, but like I mentioned at the top, not the most intuitive. If you missed the first step, this is how you create a folder. And, if you want to create Navigation shortcuts like I did, you can check that out in this post.
