Changing the Default Recorded TV Folder in Windows 7 Media Center
Looking for a way to change the default folder for recorded TV? Windows 7 Media Center has a setting to let you change theDrive that you use to record TV, but it doesn’t give you the option to choose a different folder. Fortunately we can configure a customized Recorded TV path with some basic registry editing.
To access the Registry Editor, Type regedit into the Search box and press Enter.

In the Registry Editor, browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Service\Recording.
Click on Recording on the left panel and you’ll see the values appear on the right. You’ll want to find the RecordPath value.

Double-click the RecordPath Value. An Edit String window will pop up. Type in your preferred recorded TV path into the text box labeled Value data. Click OK when you’re finished.

Now, you’ll find your recorded TV programs showing up in the new folder.

You’ll also notice that if you exit out, and re-open the Registry Editor, your new recorded TV folder will be added to the list of Watched Folders. This means it will still show up in the Recorded TV section of Windows Media Center.

The ability to customize is always good. It would be nice if Microsoft made this a little easier, but at least there is a way to get it done! Check out this article if you want to change the Recorded TV folder to a secondary or external drive.
